Tradimenti e mutamenti nel cinema di Lanthimos, Povere Creature!

The work tackles the path of the Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, from his debut to the winning film of the Golden Lion at the 80. Venice International Film Festival, "Poor Things!". It is proposed a journey that crosses each individual cinematographic work identifying the thematic universes and recurring elements, in order to understand the evolutions and changes that have brought the director from the Greek independent panorama to the world mainstream. Specifically, the most characteristic aspects of "Poor Things!" from the adaptation of the original novel to the making of the film are taken into analysis, with particular attention to visual experimentation and the scenic department.

L’elaborato affronta il percorso del regista greco Yorgos Lanthimos, a partire dai suoi esordi fino alla realizzazione del film vincitore del Leone d’Oro della 80. Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Venezia, "Povere Creature!". Si propone un percorso che attraversa le singole opere cinematografiche individuandone gli universi tematici ed elementi ricorrenti, per comprendere le evoluzioni e i cambiamenti che hanno portato il regista dal panorama indipendente greco al mainstream mondiale. Nello specifico si prendono in analisi gli aspetti più caratteristici di "Povere Creature!", dall’adattamento del romanzo originale fino alla realizzazione del film, con particolare attenzione alla sperimentazione visiva ed il reparto scenografico.
