This thesis explores the phenomenon of tourism, analyzing its origins, definitions, current trends, and transformations in post-modernity. It provides a historical overview of tourism, considering the sector's evolution and the implications of recent geopolitical conflicts, such as those in Russia-Ukraine and the Middle East. The concept of a tourist destination is examined, distinguishing between "corporate" and "community" destinations, and analyzing the factors that influence tourist flows. The life cycle of tourist destinations is discussed, along with destination management and marketing strategies. The work also addresses sustainability in tourism, evaluating the environmental, economic, and socio-cultural impacts of the sector. A path toward sustainable tourism development is outlined, with particular attention to the role of Destination Management and Destination Marketing. Certifications for sustainable tourism and the challenges related to greenwashing are analyzed. A particular focus is dedicated to Veneto, with an analysis of tourism at both national and regional levels. The Strategic Tourism Development Plan 2023-27, the measures of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the evolution of tourism, the tourism supply, and regional legislation on tourism development and sustainability are examined. Further analysis is reserved for Valbelluna, describing the territorial context, the evolution of tourism, and the local tourism supply. The tourism organization of Valbelluna, including DMO Dolomiti Bellunesi and Consorzio Dolomiti Prealpi, is evaluated, with a SWOT analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats. Finally, concrete proposals to improve the tourism development of Valbelluna are presented, based on the collected data. The thesis concludes with a summary of the results obtained and the implications for the future of tourism, emphasizing the importance of a sustainable and strategic approach for the success of tourist destinations.
Questa tesi esplora il fenomeno del turismo, analizzando le sue origini, le definizioni, le tendenze attuali e le trasformazioni nella post-modernità. Si fornisce una panoramica storica del turismo, considerando le evoluzioni del settore e le implicazioni dei recenti conflitti geopolitici, come quelli in Russia-Ucraina e in Medio Oriente. Viene esaminato il concetto di destinazione turistica, distinguendo tra destinazioni "corporate" e "community" e analizzando i fattori che influenzano i flussi turistici. Il ciclo di vita delle destinazioni turistiche è discusso insieme alle strategie di gestione e marketing delle destinazioni. Il lavoro affronta anche la sostenibilità nel turismo, valutando gli impatti ambientali, economici e socio-culturali del settore. Viene tracciato un percorso verso lo sviluppo sostenibile del turismo, con particolare attenzione al ruolo del Destination Management e del Destination Marketing. Sono analizzate le certificazioni per il turismo sostenibile e le sfide legate al greenwashing. Un focus particolare è dedicato al Veneto, con un'analisi del turismo sia a livello nazionale che regionale. Si esaminano il Piano Strategico di Sviluppo del Turismo 2023-27, le misure del PNRR, l'evoluzione del turismo, l'offerta turistica e la legislazione regionale in materia di sviluppo e sostenibilità. Un'ulteriore analisi è riservata alla Valbelluna, descrivendo il contesto territoriale, l'evoluzione del turismo e l'offerta turistica locale. Viene valutata l'organizzazione turistica della Valbelluna, inclusi la DMO Dolomiti Bellunesi e il Consorzio Dolomiti Prealpi, con un'analisi SWOT per identificare punti di forza e debolezza, nonché opportunità e minacce. Infine, vengono presentate proposte concrete per migliorare lo sviluppo turistico della Valbelluna, basate sui dati raccolti. La tesi si conclude con una sintesi dei risultati ottenuti e delle implicazioni per il futuro del turismo, enfatizzando l'importanza di un approccio sostenibile e strategico per il successo delle destinazioni turistiche.
