Konglish, a blend of Korean and English, has emerged as a significant linguistic phenomenon in South Korea, reflecting the country's rapid globalization and the pervasive influence of the English language. This work explores the evolution of Konglish, its structural characteristics, and its sociocultural implications within South Korean society. The analysis considers a historical overview of the introduction and integration of the English language in Korea, tracing its roots from the late 19th century to the present day. Then, the phonetic, lexical, and syntactic features of Konglish are examined, highlighting common patterns and deviations from both standard Korean and English by loanwords, hybrid terms and phonological aspects.
Il Konglish, una combinazione di coreano e inglese, è emerso come un fenomeno linguistico significativo in Corea del Sud, riflettendo la rapida globalizzazione del paese e la pervasiva influenza della lingua inglese. Questo lavoro esplora l'evoluzione del Konglish, le sue caratteristiche strutturali e le sue implicazioni socioculturali all'interno della società sudcoreana. L’analisi considera una panoramica storica dell'introduzione e dell'integrazione della lingua inglese in Corea, tracciandone le radici dalla fine del XIX secolo fino ai giorni nostri. Successivamente, vengono esaminate le caratteristiche fonetiche, lessicali e sintattiche del Konglish, evidenziando i modelli comuni e le deviazioni sia dal coreano standard che dall'inglese attraverso prestiti linguistici, termini ibridi e aspetti fonologici.
