This thesis aims to analyze linguistic variation in Spanish, that is, the use of the language influenced by factors such as: social class and educational level, ethnic origin, profession, geographic area and language proficiency level. The first chapter focuses on linguistic variation and specifically on diatopic, diastratic and diaphasic variation, whereas the second one examines these varieties in relation to the Spanish tv-series "Las chicas del cable", in which from a diastratic and diaphasic point of view it has been observed how register can vary according to the contexts in which the character participates; with regard to diatopic variation, differences between Spanish speaking-countries have been analyzed, allowing to differentiate the characters of the series with their lexical and pronunciation characteristics.
En esta tesis se analizará el concepto de variación lingüística del español, es decir el uso de la lengua condicionado por factores como la clase social y el nivel educativo, la procedencia étnica, la profesión, el área geográfica y el nivel del conocimiento de la lengua. El primer capítulo se centra en la variación lingüística y concretamente en la variación diatópica, diastrática y diafásica, mientras que en el segundo se examinan estas variedades acerca de la serie televisiva “Las chicas del cable”, en la que se ha observado desde el punto de vista diastrático y diafásico como el registro empleado puede variar en función de la situación en la que participa el personaje; por lo que concierne el análisis de la variación diatópica se han analizado los rasgos típicos de zonas de España y de América Latina que ha permitido diferenciar los personajes de la serie con sus características léxicas y de pronunciación.
