Instagram e Violenza Vicaria: Analisi delle Pratiche di Resistenza, Resilienza ed Empowerment Online

This thesis aims to explore the role of Instagram in communicating and raising awareness about vicarious violence, focusing on the practices of resistance, resilience, and empowerment that emerge from posts and stories published on the platform. The study is based on a representative sample of Instagram content, including news published by journalistic sources, that addresses the theme of vicarious violence, evaluating how these influence the social perception of the phenomenon and user interactions. Through an ethnographic approach, the research examines the communication strategies and narratives employed by users, analyzing the selected content with an interpretative lens to highlight the level of awareness among users regarding this specific form of violence and the tactics suggested by them as methods of resistance and empowerment.

Questa tesi si pone l’obiettivo di esplorare il ruolo di Instagram nella comunicazione e sensibilizzazione sulla violenza vicaria, mettendo a fuoco le pratiche di resistenza, resilienza ed empowerment che emergono da post e stories pubblicati sulla piattaforma. Lo studio si basa su un campione rappresentativo di contenuti di Instagram, compresi news pubblicate da testate giornalistiche, che trattano il tema della violenza vicaria, valutando come queste influenzano la percezione sociale del fenomeno e il confronto tra gli utenti. Infatti attraverso un approccio etnografico, la ricerca esamina le strategie comunicative e le narrazioni a cui ricorrono gli utenti, esaminando i contenuti selezionati con una lente interpretativa, al fine di porre in evidenza il grado di awareness degli utenti rispetto a questa particolare forma di violenza e alle modalità suggerite dagli stessi come tattiche di resistenza ed empowerment.
