This thesis would evaluate the emergence and development of Silvio Berlusconi’s personal party, analyzing how that party survived after his death in June 2023. The purpose of the study is to examine the structure of the personal party and the relationship with its leader, applying it to the case of Forza Italia. The survival of a personal party seems inexorably linked to the life of the leader who created it, so Forza Italia would have to undergo a sharp decline. However, after the death of Silvio Berlusconi, the leadership passed to Antonio Tajani, who managed to get the party a good result in the European elections of June 2024 and avoid the party’s decline. The first chapter introduces the theme of the creation of the personal party, listing its characteristics and the history of its formation. The second chapter provides an analysis of Forza Italia and the innovations in the political and communicative field introduced by Silvio Berlusconi, which have upset the relations between voters and elected forever. Silvio Berlusconi appears to voters as a new figure, who thanks to his experience as an entrepreneur could have lifted the country’s economy. The third chapter deals with the situation of the post-Berlusconian party, analyzing the strategies adopted by the new leader to face the current challenges. One of Tajani’s techniques is to represent in the logo of the party during the European elections the former leader Berlusconi, although he declares that the new Forza Italia is not a nostalgic and past-oriented party.
La presente tesi intende affrontare la nascita e lo sviluppo del partito personale di Silvio Berlusconi, analizzando come tale partito sia sopravvissuto dopo la sua morte nel giugno 2023. Lo scopo dello studio è quello di esaminare la struttura del partito personale e del rapporto con il suo leader, applicatolo al caso di Forza Italia. La sopravvivenza di un partito personale pare legata inesorabilmente alla vita del leader che lo ha creato, di conseguenza Forza Italia avrebbe dovuto subire un forte declino. Tuttavia, dopo la scomparsa di Silvio Berlusconi la leadership è passata ad Antonio Tajani, che è riuscito a far ottenere al partito un buon risultato alle elezioni europee del giugno 2024 e ad evitare il declino del partito. Il primo capitolo introduce il tema della creazione del partito personale, elencando le sue caratteristiche e la storia della sua formazione. Il secondo capitolo prevede un’analisi di Forza Italia e delle innovazioni in campo politico e comunicativo introdotte da Silvio Berlusconi, che hanno stravolto le relazioni tra elettori ed eletti per sempre. Silvio Berlusconi agli occhi degli elettori appare come una figura nuova, che grazie alla sua esperienza da imprenditore avrebbe potuto sollevare l’economia del paese. Il terzo capitolo tratta la situazione del partito successiva all’era berlusconiana, analizzando le strategie adottate dal nuovo leader per far fronte alle sfide attuali. Una delle tecniche di Tajani è quella di rappresentare nel logo del partito in occasione delle elezioni europee l’ex leader Berlusconi, seppur dichiari che la nuova Forza Italia non sia un partito nostalgico e orientato al passato.
