This paper was born with the aim of investigating the validity of Maria Montessori's pedagogical thought in the 21st century, in light of the socio-cultural and educational evolution since the development of this pedagogy. In the first chapter, introduced by a brief biography, the birth of Montessori pedagogy and the establishment of the first Children's Home are reported. In addition, the characteristics of the educational environment and materials are described, with a final focus on the figure of the teacher and the procedures for teaching. In the second chapter, two major changes characteristic of this era are analyzed from Montessori pedagogical thought: an increasingly intercultural educational environment and the development of technology. Reported, finally, are the elements that affirm how the Montessori method is still valid in light of these changes. In the third and final chapter, beginning with my own experience of an internship within a Montessori integrated kindergarten, the current reality of this pedagogical thought is described, reporting, finally, some observation sheets on the activities carried out.
Questo elaborato nasce con l’obiettivo di indagare la validità del pensiero pedagogico di Maria Montessori nel XXI secolo, alla luce dell’evoluzione socio-culturale ed educativa che si è manifestata a partire dallo sviluppo di tale pedagogia. Nel primo capitolo, introdotto da una breve biografia, viene riportata la nascita della pedagogia Montessori e l’istituzione della prima Casa dei bambini. Inoltre, vengono descritte le caratteristiche dell’ambiente educativo e dei materiali, con un ultimo focus sulla figura della maestra e sulle procedure per l’insegnamento. Nel secondo capitolo vengono analizzati, a partire dal pensiero pedagogico montessoriano, due grandi cambiamenti caratteristici di quest’epoca: un ambiente educativo sempre più interculturale e lo sviluppo delle tecnologie. Vengono, infine, riportati, gli elementi che affermano come il metodo Montessori sia ancora valido alla luce di questi mutamenti. Nel terzo e ultimo capitolo, a partire dalla mia esperienza di tirocinio all’interno di un asilo nido integrato montessoriano, viene descritta la realtà attuale di questo pensiero pedagogico, riportando, infine, alcune schede di osservazione sulle attività svolte.
