INNOVATION AND FLEXIBILITY: ANNIA BANK'S STRATEGY TO MEET THE NEW CHALLENGES OF THE BANKING SECTOR

The thesis below focuses on the banking sector and its current evolution. In particular, I delve into the case study of Banca Annia, where I did my internship from March 11 to June 14, 2024. The first chapter will examine the historical context of Cooperative Credit Banks (BCCs), explore their origins and development, and then shift our focus to Banca Annia, which is part of the Iccrea Group, understanding its evolution and changes over time. The next chapter will focus on the banking sector, which has faced significant shifts due to recent economic changes. Banca Annia is grappling with the challenges of adaptability as it tries to maintain a role in this complex and multifaceted industry. To address this, the bank has implemented organisational restructuring, and the strategies it employs to effectively navigate these changes will be explored. A critical but essential aspect of Banca Annia’s operations is the lending process; comparing the methods and timing before and after the reorganisation will provide insights into the bank's efficiency and effectiveness. Finally, attention will be drawn to the main competitors, evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, and differences, thus gaining valuable insights. The last part of the thesis will propose ideas and improvements for the future. I analysed these different topics to understand how Banca Annia works in this sector and especially how it is evolving and what new challenges banks will face.
