The work analyzes the relationship between Kardecist Spiritism and politics in the Brazilian context, focusing particularly on the history, doctrines, and sociopolitical influence of the movement. Beginning with the history of Kardecism in Brazil, from its introduction in the 19th century to its contemporary status, the research aims to reconstruct the historical and social context underlying the rapid expansion of the movement. It then examines its fundamental principles and doctrines, including core beliefs and practices. Subsequently, the analysis delves into the role of Kardecism in Brazilian politics, highlighting the participation of Kardecist figures in politics and the positions of its followers on social and economic issues. The work emphasizes the unique relationships that characterize the interaction between the movement and political power, providing a detailed examination of historical connections between religious doctrine and political action. Finally, the last chapter is devoted to illustrating the evolution of this relationship in the 21st century, with particular reference to the most recent presidential elections in the country. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of Kardecism in Brazilian society, offering new perspectives on the interactions between religion and politics in a context where the need to build a national identity based on heterogeneity and the tensions arising from attempts to harmonize a wide cultural and religious spectrum characterise the brazilian social body with distinctive uniqueness.

Abstract
This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of Kardecism in Brazilian society, offering new perspectives on the interactions between religion and politics in a context where the need to build a national identity based on heterogeneity and the tensions arising from attempts to harmonize a wide cultural and religious spectrum characterise the brazilian social body with distinctive uniqueness.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
