This thesis aims to analyze the academic career path within the context of sociological sciences, with particular attention to the phenomena of social acceleration and reflexivity of individuals within the academic world. Chapter 1: This chapter explores the academic career path, highlighting how increasing social acceleration influences the dynamics within the academic context. Chapter 2: The second chapter is dedicated to reflexivity. A critical review of previous approaches is provided, highlighting how Archer's theory offers a more nuanced understanding of individual reflection processes and their implications for academic careers. Chapter 3: The third chapter presents empirical research that tests the theories discussed in the previous chapters. Through data analysis, it seeks to understand how the concepts of social acceleration, competition, and reflexivity concretely influence the experiences and career paths of academics. Chapter 4: This chapter presents the results and limitations of the conducted research. In conclusion, the thesis aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the contemporary dynamics that characterize academic careers.
