MISURARE LA QUALITÀ DELLA DEMOCRAZIA: ANALISI DEL DEMOCRACY INDEX IN NORVEGIA, UNGHERIA E TURCHIA

This work aims to measure the degree of democracy and freedom in Norway, Hungary and Türkiye, with the help of the Democracy Index (Democracy Indicator). In this analysis, the methodology of this indicator will be presented, focusing on the research methods of the NGO reports Freedom House, the weekly The Economist and V-Dem project. Subsequently, three countries will be examined, namely Norway, Hungary and Türkiye, which will be analyzed and cataloged in light of the aforementioned reports. Thus, the phenomena and political choices that have made their democracies more or less stable will be highlighted, considering also the feedback from public opinion. Finally, a space will be dedicated to criticisms aimed at the research instrument adopted.

Il presente lavoro ha lo scopo di misurare il grado di democrazia e libertà di Norvegia, Ungheria e Turchia, con l’ausilio del Democracy Index (Indicatore di Democrazia). Nella presente analisi, verrà presentata la metodologia di tale indicatore, focalizzando l’attenzione soprattutto sulle modalità di ricerca proprie dei reports della ONG Freedom House, del settimanale The Economist e del progetto V-Dem. In seguito, si prenderanno in esame tre paesi, ovvero Norvegia, Ungheria e Turchia, che verranno analizzati e catalogati alla luce dei reports succitati. Si evidenzieranno, così, i fenomeni e le scelte politiche che hanno reso più o meno stabili le loro democrazie, considerando anche i feedback derivanti dall’opinione pubblica. Infine, uno spazio sarà dedicato alle critiche rivolte verso lo strumento di ricerca adottato.
