The present paper aims to investigate the potential role of art in promoting individual and community well-being within the theoretical framework of Seligman's (2011) Theory of Well-being. Through a review of existing literature, it analyzes the links between active artistic experience and well-being, examining how different types of creative experiences can foster the exploration of positive emotions, engagement, meaning, fulfillment, and positive relationships. Furthermore, it explores the possible role of the processes of psychological and personal growth, and social participation as means to influence, facilitate, and mediate the positive effects of art on well-being, both at individual and community levels. Finally, an example of exploratory case study conducted within a group art therapy context will be presented, employing the focus group methodology during an internship experience. In this study, a group of participants over 50, already active and involved in the artistic environment for years, was asked to reflect on the meaning and effects of their individual and group painting path. It is hoped that this paper can contribute to a better understanding of the processes underlying the relationship between art and psychosocial well-being, providing a new perspective for the development of art-based interventions in the field of community psychology.

Abstract
It is hoped that this paper can contribute to a better understanding of the processes underlying the relationship between art and psychosocial well-being, providing a new perspective for the development of art-based interventions in the field of community psychology.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
