The following thesis aims to analyze and explore the topic of suicidal behavior in patients suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). After having defined the difference between suicidal behavior and suicide and having clarified what personality disorders are, the medical records of patients followed by the Camposampiero CSM who have presented suicidal behavior, have a diagnosis of BPD and who have participated in the Treatment Based on the Mentalization (MBT), i.e. a treatment offered by the CSM lasting 18 months which is based on individual and group psychotherapy, with the aim of helping patients recover or strengthen their mentalization abilities. During the analysis of these records, some items were taken into consideration (such as self-harm, previous suicide attempts, alcohol or substance abuse) to understand the effectiveness and real help that this type of treatment provides and to identify the possibility of common factors that can allow the nurse to identify patients at risk early. An interview was also conducted with the nurses of the Camposampiero CSM regarding the management of this type of patient and the carrying out of the MBT (in which a nurse participates together with a team of doctors and other professional figures, as co-host) to try to understand what role the latter has and how we can help future nurses train in this area.
