INTRODUCTION: Female breast cancer in Italy in 2023 was the most frequently diagnosed cancer, (55,900 cases); in 2022 there were 834,000 living women with breast cancer. Therapies impact patients' quality of life (QoL) in important ways. A review of the studies conducted reveals the beneficial impact of exercise in preparing the patient to better cope with the course of therapy, counteracting/reducing its adverse and side effects, promoting adherence to treatments, and safeguarding QoL, even past the acute phase. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE DATA ANALYSIS of the RYLA onlus pink running team, composed of patients and health care staff and trained for a year, eventually running the New York Marathon, was to highlight, in a real case, the effects of a year of high-intensity aerobic exercise on a range of physical parameters and the psycholosocial well-being of the patients involved. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The data examined were taken on the first project team, consisting of 13 patients who had finished the acute phase of treatment, almost all, however, on hormone therapy. Surveys taken at T0, at 6-12 months and for some parameters at 18 (6 months after reaching the marathon goal). Physical parameters, through specific diagnostics and indications of psycholosocial well-being through completion of specific questionnaires. RESULTS-DISCUSSION: Examination of the data provides a concrete example of the rehabilitative effect of exercise, in psychophysical terms, in the breast cancer patient, confirming the findings emerging from the literature, except with regard to muscle power (due to a lack of specific exercises) and exercise adherence (the RYLA team sample demonstrated much higher adherence up to 5-7 and 9 years). DESIGN AND CONCLUSION The designed nursing care would represent the patient's first point of reference for all issues related to the impact on quality of life of the treatment pathway, provide educational guidance on the use of exercise, nutrition, and psychological support to safeguard her QoL during and after treatments, promoting adherence and making the process of responding to the patient's needs more effective, with more correct and efficient access to different specialists.
