Home management of patients with terminal senile dementia represents a clinical and social condition that requires comprehensive and multidisciplinary care. To best understand how to develop an appropriate care plan for this neurodegenerative condition, it is important to analyze how dementia impacts the life of the affected individual and their family members and caregivers, particularly in the terminal phase. By examining the needs of the patient at the end of life and those of the family members who assist them, it will be possible to highlight how to plan adequate care that considers not only the medical aspects but also the psychosocial ones. In conclusion, we will analyze how this care can be provided in a home setting and what this entails, both positively and negatively, within the patient’s family environment

La gestione domiciliare dei pazienti affetti da demenza senile in fase terminale rappresenta una condizione clinica e sociale che necessita di una assistenza di tipo globale e multidisciplinare. Per comprendere al meglio come si può sviluppare un corretto piano assistenziale per questa condizione neurodegenerativa, è importante analizzare come la demenza influisca sulla vita del soggetto che ne è affetto e su quella dei familiari e caregiver che lo circondano, in particolare nella fase terminale. Attraverso l’analisi dei bisogni del paziente nel percorso di fine vita, e di quelli dei familiari che lo assistono, sarà possibile evidenziare come si possa pianificare un’assistenza adeguata che tenga conto non solo degli aspetti medici, ma anche di quelli psico-sociali. In conclusione, andremo ad analizzare come questa assistenza possa essere fornita in ambito domiciliare, e cosa questo comporti, sia positivamente che negativamente, all’interno dell’ambito familiare del paziente.
