This paper aims to highlight the importance of the role of the Expert by Experience (henceforth ESP) within services dealing with Mental Health, be they public, private or associative bodies. This reflection was born and materialised following my traineeship experience at the ‘L'Alba’ Association in Pisa, an association that deals with the psycho-social integration of people who suffer or have suffered from a psychic or psychological distress through the creation of a shared space, open to all. After a brief excursus on the history of rehabilitation in psychiatry, on how it has changed and evolved over the years and how it has finally made the assisted user the protagonist, not only considering the pathology as such, the meaning of the term Recovery will be defined, the change in the approach to treatment, presenting the testimonies of mental health users, and finally the presentation of the ESP, a professional figure developed and included in some multidisciplinary teams, which is still not very widespread in Italy. Hypotheses of collaboration between TERPs and ESPs in conducting specific rehabilitative interventions will then be proposed, hoping that this may push towards a future implementation of this figure within every service that deals with mental health.

Abstract
Hypotheses of collaboration between TERPs and ESPs in conducting specific rehabilitative interventions will then be proposed, hoping that this may push towards a future implementation of this figure within every service that deals with mental health.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
