The cutting stock problem is a widely recognised issue in industry, where maximising material utilisation and reducing waste are primary objectives, but also present themselves as complex issues to be addressed. In this research, a possible approach to this problem is presented, with a specific focus on glass sheet cutting optimisation. The proposed work consists of the development of a software, realised in HTML/JavaScript and equipped with an interactive user interface. This program is designed to expose to the user the cutting lines required for processing pending orders, aiming to combine optimal material utilisation with fast execution times of the software itself.

Abstract

The cutting stock problem is a widely recognised issue in industry, where maximising material utilisation and reducing waste are primary objectives, but also present themselves as complex issues to be addressed. In this research, a possible approach to this problem is presented, with a specific focus on glass sheet cutting optimisation. The proposed work consists of the development of a software, realised in HTML/JavaScript and equipped with an interactive user interface. This program is designed to expose to the user the cutting lines required for processing pending orders, aiming to combine optimal material utilisation with fast execution times of the software itself.

Optimization in glass cutting: an approach to the cutting stock problem
The cutting stock problem is a widely recognised issue in industry, where maximising material utilisation and reducing waste are primary objectives, but also present themselves as complex issues to be addressed. In this research, a possible approach to this problem is presented, with a specific focus on glass sheet cutting optimisation. The proposed work consists of the development of a software, realised in HTML/JavaScript and equipped with an interactive user interface. This program is designed to expose to the user the cutting lines required for processing pending orders, aiming to combine optimal material utilisation with fast execution times of the software itself.
