Night work, an integral part of today’s working world, is associated with numerous health and safety risks for workers. This paper aims to analyze the impact of night work on workers, focusing particularly on injuries caused by the disruption of the sleep-wake cycle. Through an analysis of workplace injuries in Italy and Europe, the most frequent dynamics related to night shifts can be identified. Regarding Italian data, the ATECO sections C (manufacturing), H (transportation and storage), Q (healthcare and social assistance), and F (construction) are considered, as they are characterized by a high incidence of night work. The data collected suggest the need for targeted preventive measures for better management of night shifts. The analysis of current regulations and Italian and European statistics allows for the identification of improvement plans regarding the prevention of night-time injuries.
