This historical research highlights the development of nationalism, illustrating its main stages and its rapid spread at the beginning of the 20th century, especially after the First World War. The atrocities committed both to gain power in various states and during the Second World War will also be analysed, which also involved innocent citizens through the mechanism of total war.

Questa ricerca storica mette in evidenza lo sviluppo del nazionalismo, illustrando le sue tappe principali e la sua rapida diffusione all’inizio del XX secolo, soprattutto dopo la Prima guerra mondiale. Verranno analizzate anche le atrocità commesse sia per conquistare il potere in vari Stati sia durante la Seconda guerra mondiale, che tramite il meccanismo della guerra totale hanno coinvolto anche i cittadini innocenti.
