Pediatric palliative care aims at the active total care of the child with a severe or terminal condition. The approach is inspired by an ethic of accompaniment and global care that formulates personalized responses to the subjective needs of the individual. The following thesis aims to explore the possibility of an educational service within the scope of pediatric palliative care. The first section introduces the topic through a literature review, deepening the foundation and the distribution of pediatric palliative care and analyzing the profile of the patient eligible for such treatments. Then the thesis explores the professional figure of the social health educator, focusing on its core competences able to address the specific needs defined by technical documents and national standards. It is outlined in this second section that there is consistency between its functions and the assistance necessities of this care field. Ultimately, as confirmation of the findings of the first two sections, the pedagogic-educational service of Casa Sollievo Bimbi VIDAS is presented in order to investigate, through a descriptive study, the founding, the evolution, and the philosophy of care in light of its uniqueness in the national landscape of pediatric palliative care services. Further, this section aims to describe the functions, the tools, the methodologies, and the activities of the educator in conjunction with the multidisciplinary équipe, with a view to his specificity and his professional role within this service, which, to this day, presents itself as innovative.

Abstract
Further, this section aims to describe the functions, the tools, the methodologies, and the activities of the educator in conjunction with the multidisciplinary équipe, with a view to his specificity and his professional role within this service, which, to this day, presents itself as innovative.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
