There are several areas in which the Health educator can intervene by setting goals such as patient engagement, motivation, change, autonomy and empowerment. For this thesis project, we chose to explore the area of mental health with a focus on personality disorders, especially Cluster B characterized by emotional dysregulation and impulsivity. The most widely used Evidence Based treatment for this type of disorders is DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) devised in the 1980s by Marsha Linehan, a world-renowned US psychologist. The application of this rehabilitation program is the responsibility of fellow psychologists; however, it requires the collaboration of all professionals involved in rehabilitation. The aim of this study is to propose a distinction of the roles of professional figures who collaborate in the helping relationship in the psychiatric field and specifically to investigate the role of EP in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, reflecting in particular on what tools and educational interventions to reinforce the treatment that EP can implement. In order to test the research hypothesis, two interviews were conducted with different health care figures, a psychologist and a nurse-leader, from a psychiatric rehabilitation department. A positive picture emerges from these two consultations in relation to the role of the EP within the DBT rehabilitation program: the EP can be supportive in the management of emotions and impulsivity, actively cooperates in the teaching of skills, but above all establishes, thanks to his skills, that relationship of trust with the patient, the educational relationship, which is fundamental for the achievement of rehabilitation goals and for improving the person's quality of life.
