Background: Observing the communicative and informative potential achieved by social media in recent years, it is important to focus on their effectiveness not only for the dissemination of topics of general interest and entertainment, but also in the health field, analyzing how and if this tool can be effective as an educational tool, to teach and disseminate health to the population. Objective: Analyze how much the population can actually learn from a simple educational clip of a few seconds recorded by a professional and published on a social media. To understand this, we focused the educational intervention on a procedure: the Heimlich maneuver, contextualizing it among athletes given the tendency to practice sports with sweets or chewing gum in their mouths. We selected 3 sports clubs with a total of 56 participants, subjecting each member to watching a video where the Heimlich maneuver is illustrated and explained and to filling out a questionnaire before and after watching the clip, to understand the effectiveness of the intervention provided. Materials and Methods: Review of national and international literature through biomedical databases (PubMed, Google Schoolar and Cochrane). Descriptive observational study with the construction of an ad hoc questionnaire, administered via Google Forms to members registered in the following sports clubs: Real Grisignano, Dream Five Dueville, Futsal Breganze. Results: The educational intervention via video was effective in improving participants' knowledge and skills regarding the Heimlich maneuver and the management of airway obstructions. However, some gaps persist, particularly in the recognition of symptoms and the correct application of procedures. This underlines the importance of a continuous and diversified educational approach, which could include additional practical sessions and the use of social media to keep knowledge alive and consolidated over time.
