Demografia, migrazioni e diversità etniche negli Stati Uniti

The thesis deals with demography, migration and ethnic diversity, focusing on the United States. At the beginning it will present a historical introduction, which will explain the process of migration to the United States and how this has influenced and still influences the demography and the various ethnic diversities present in the country. We will talk about how the discovery of America has impacted the indigenous populations, leading to their almost total extinction and how great migrations began, especially from the European and African continents, into the country. Subsequently, the racial issue will be treated, which has been the protagonist throughout history, causing great problems and how it still influences today from a political, social and cultural point of view, also considering the great demographic changes present in the United States and the relations with Latin American countries, especially Mexico and the various conflicts present. From a demographic point of view, the picture of current births is highlighted, as diversity is changing the cultural and demographic aspect in the United States, with more and more mixed unions that are creating a new generation of Americans that differs greatly from past generations. In conclusion we will see a general picture, with some reflections on the current situation and possible ideas and discussions on how to deal with the current problems, we will discuss the huge international impact, given the huge US influence in the rest of the world.

La tesi tratta della demografia, le migrazioni e le diversità etniche, concentrandosi negli Stati Uniti. Presenterà all’inizio un’introduzione storica, che spiegherà il processo di migrazione negli Stati Uniti e di come questo abbia influito e influisca tutt’ora nella demografia e le varie e svariate diversità etniche presenti nel paese, si parlerà appunto di come la scoperta dell’America abbia impattato sulle popolazioni indigene, portandone quasi alla totale estinzione e di come siano iniziate le grandi migrazioni specialmente dal continente europeo e africano nel paese. In seguito verrà trattata la questione raziale che è stata protagonista nel corso della storia causando grandi problematiche e di come tutt’oggi influisca dal punto di vista politico, sociale e culturale, considerando anche i grandi cambiamenti demografici presenti negli Stati Uniti e le relazioni con i paesi dell’America latina, specialmente il Messico e le varie conflittualità presenti. Si evidenzia dal punto di vista demografico il quadro delle nascite attuali, come la diversità stia cambiando l’aspetto culturale e demografico negli Stati Uniti, con sempre più unioni miste che stanno creando una nuova generazione di statunitensi che si diversifica moltissimo dalle generazioni passate. In conclusione si vedrà un quadro generale, con alcune riflessioni sulla situazione attuale e possibili idee e discussioni su come poter affrontare le problematiche presenti, si discuterà del grandissimo impatto anche internazionale, data la grandissima influenza statunitense nel resto del mondo.
