This thesis explores the interconnection between the psychological evolution of society and the rise of populism, focusing on the analysis of social changes and their consequences, which have shaped modern politics. It examines the technological and historical factors that contributed to societal evolution in the 21st century, investigating particularly the impact of social and technological changes on individual psychology and studying how shifts in social, economic, and cultural dynamics influence perceptions, attitudes and behaviours, consequently affecting the political landscape. The thesis further analyses how these changes have generated feelings of fear and insecurity, exploring how political parties have captured these feelings and used them to their advantage to gain political support. Additionally, it studies the sociological dynamics that have determined the success of populist movements in Europe. By considering the factors that have led to the spread of populism across contemporary democracies, this study offers a broader understanding of the psychological and social processes that fuel it, providing insights into intervention strategies aimed at promoting social cohesion and democratic participation.

The thesis further analyses how these changes have generated feelings of fear and insecurity, exploring how political parties have captured these feelings and used them to their advantage to gain political support. Additionally, it studies the sociological dynamics that have determined the success of populist movements in Europe. By considering the factors that have led to the spread of populism across contemporary democracies, this study offers a broader understanding of the psychological and social processes that fuel it, providing insights into intervention strategies aimed at promoting social cohesion and democratic participation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
