The aim of this dissertation is to assess the role that developing countries have played in the global trade system, from the debate on the Havana Charter in 1947 to the Uruguay Round in 1994. The objective of the research is to highlight the motivations behind the behavior of developing countries during the Rounds, until the success of the Uruguay Round, and to analyze the outcomes of this final negotiation. The Uruguay Round, held between 1986 and 1994, represents the most significant Round of the GATT for developing countries.
