Child maltreatment is a persistent challenge with profound effects on the well-being of victims. This study assesses the feasibility of implementing the Barnahus model—a child-centered, multidisciplinary approach to child protection—in Italy, with a focus on the Veneto region. The Barnahus model, originating in Iceland and successfully adopted across several European countries, seeks to reduce secondary victimization by integrating social, health, and legal services in a single, child-friendly setting. Through a comprehensive review of literature and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, this research explores the compatibility of Barnahus principles with existing practices in Veneto’s child protection system, identifying both systemic challenges and potential adaptations required for successful implementation. Findings indicate that, while the region’s current child protection infrastructure offers a foundational basis, challenges such as resource limitations, interagency coordination, and training gaps remain significant. The study offers recommendations aimed at addressing these barriers and advancing the development of child-centered protections in Italy, underscoring the importance of a unified and supportive system for child victims of violence.
