The work presented in this paper aims to explore the relationship between the use of social networks and depressive symptoms, analyzing two main aspects: the time users spend on these platforms and problematic use of social networks, i.e., usage characterized by a sort of dependence. The goal is to understand whether the amount of time and the ways in which social networks are used can actually be associated with the manifestation of depressive symptoms, taking into account differences related to the type of platform, the demographic characteristics of the individuals being analyzed, and the different methods of measuring depressive symptoms. By using statistical models such as fixed-effects models, random-effects models, and meta-regression models, it is possible to assess the impact of time spent on social networks and problematic use on depressive symptoms.

Abstract
The work presented in this paper aims to explore the relationship between the use of social networks and depressive symptoms, analyzing two main aspects: the time users spend on these platforms and problematic use of social networks, i.e., usage characterized by a sort of dependence. The goal is to understand whether the amount of time and the ways in which social networks are used can actually be associated with the manifestation of depressive symptoms, taking into account differences related to the type of platform, the demographic characteristics of the individuals being analyzed, and the different methods of measuring depressive symptoms. By using statistical models such as fixed-effects models, random-effects models, and meta-regression models, it is possible to assess the impact of time spent on social networks and problematic use on depressive symptoms.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
