The objective of this thesis is to analyze and revise the layout of the production plant of Zoppelletto S.P.A., in response to the changes the company has undergone in recent years. The current layout dates back to a study conducted in the 1980s, and over time, both the machinery and technologies used in the factory, as well as the type and mix of products offered by the company, have changed. The aim of this project is to use a robust methodology such as Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), developed by R. Muther, to reorganize the allocation of resources within the plant, in order to achieve benefits such as simplifying workflows, reducing costs, and improving production efficiency. A product-quantity analysis is performed based on the company’s production mix, followed by an evaluation of the material flow between machines and the relationships between different departments. Based on this quantitative and qualitative data, various layout alternatives are determined and then evaluated according to key factors in order to find the best one. Subsequently, detailed layout planning is conducted, through which the machines are arranged within each department.
