The thesis aims to investigate, through a decolonial perspective, the importance and urgency of critically addressing the legacies of colonialism and the global system of domination “modernity/ coloniality” in the Italian educational system. Starting from the conviction that school, often perceived as a neutral space, is in fact primarily a political place where structures and hierarchies of power and knowledge are reproduced, the research aims to contribute to the debate on decolonization of education. Educational paths and interventions will be proposed to transform school practices and curricula, with the aim of deconstructing speeches and hegemonic practices and enhancing the plurality of experiences and knowledge: in other words, with the aim of transforming the school into a place of dissent and liberation from colonial structures of domination.

Abstract
The thesis aims to investigate, through a decolonial perspective, the importance and urgency of critically addressing the legacies of colonialism and the global system of domination “modernity/ coloniality” in the Italian educational system. Starting from the conviction that school, often perceived as a neutral space, is in fact primarily a political place where structures and hierarchies of power and knowledge are reproduced, the research aims to contribute to the debate on decolonization of education. Educational paths and interventions will be proposed to transform school practices and curricula, with the aim of deconstructing speeches and hegemonic practices and enhancing the plurality of experiences and knowledge: in other words, with the aim of transforming the school into a place of dissent and liberation from colonial structures of domination.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
