Food transcends its role as mere sustenance, deeply impacting not only our physical well-being but also our emotional state. Therefore this work looks at the multifaceted relationship between food choices and emotions, exploring the profound impact of food on human existence, encompassing both physical and mental well-being. A central focus lies on the connection between diet and mental health, examining how dietary patterns can influence mood states and potentially contribute to emotional well-being. Beyond individual health, it investigated the impact of diet on environmental health, highlighting the potential for food choices to promote sustainable practices. The role of emotions in food selection is then explored, exploring various sub topics such as the use of food for comfort, the complex relationship between food and stress, the manipulative strategies used in food marketing, and main aspects of complex issues of the eating disorders. Finally, the thesis investigates potential interventions and dietary strategies, proposing actionable steps for individuals and society at large to cultivate a mindful approach to food that nourishes both: body and soul. The research presented in this thesis aims to contribute to a growing knowledge regarding the intricate connection between food and emotions, ultimately promoting an integrative understanding of well-being.
