This study aims to examine the cultural differences between northern and southern China through differences in attitudes toward strangers. Sample data from residents in different regions of northern and southern China were collected through questionnaire surveys. The study found that northerners tend to be more forthright and direct in their communication, while southerners tend to be more polite and indirect. These differences are reflected not only in verbal expression, but also in attitudes toward stranger help and social interaction. The results reveal the important role of regional culture in shaping interpersonal communication patterns and further enrich the understanding of internal differentiation and cultural diversity in China. These findings have important implications for cross-cultural communication, social harmony, and public policy making.
