Although cinema does not have as deep-rooted a history as literature, painting, or other fine arts, it has managed to develop its narrative techniques quickly and effectively. The result of amalgamating other art forms, cinema adapts to and benefits from technological and intellectual developments rapidly, making it a significant tool for propaganda from the early years of the 20th century to the digital age we live in. With this in mind, this thesis explores the historical evolution of cinematic propaganda through case studies. The findings reveal that, in contrast to World War II propaganda films, which used overt tactics to promote fear, hatred and foster national pride, present-day cinematic propaganda employs nuanced and sophisticated strategies to influence public opinion and political behavior. Additionally, the thesis examines cinematic techniques and technological developments, discussing how cinema intersects with political communication and supports political agendas. This thesis also studies the beginning of AI and makes predictions about what AI can do in the future for cinematic propaganda communication. Finally, it concludes to address the ethical considerations of cinematic propaganda. These findings deepen our understanding of how cinema influences both political and social narratives over time.

Abstract
These findings deepen our understanding of how cinema influences both political and social narratives over time.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
