The thesis examines the three most significant films by director Neill Blomkamp, District 9, Elysium and Humandroid, and analyses them from the point of view of the construction of space. Starting from an examination of the director's career, the thesis unfolds through chapters dedicated to the films and examines some of the most significant places, analyzing them in their spatial composition. Why are they built like this? This is the question we try to answer by then expanding the discussion into various narrative junctures that recall the characteristics of the three films and also examining the definition of filmic space and architectural space and how this plays a particular role within each film. In District 9 the central theme is alien segregation and the space is therefore also analyzed according to the historical memory it recalls. In Elysium the function of places, architecture and landscape is analyzed based on the social characteristics of the protagonists. Finally, in Humandroid space is investigated as a growth environment in which the character, or characters, descend
