Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca: la Decostruzione della Conquista in Naufragios

This thesis explores the figure of the conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, with a particular focus on his work entitled Naufragios. After providing a historical overview of the New World and the situation in Spain between the 15th and 16th centuries, the study proceeds by analysing the events of Cabeza de Vaca’s life, distinguishing between a period before and after Naufragios, the account of the unfortunate expedition that would change his life. The final chapter explores the process of Deconstruction of the Conquest in Naufragios, which can be divided into four key concepts: clash, encounter, integration, and return. The study concludes with a brief analysis regarding the value of nonconquest.

La presente tesi esplora la figura del conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca e si concentra in particolar modo sulla sua opera intitolata Naufragios. In seguito ad una panoramica storica riguardante il Nuovo Mondo e la situazione storica in Spagna tra il XV e il XVI secolo, lo studio procede analizzando le vicende della vita di Cabeza de Vaca distinguendo tra un periodo precedente e uno successivo a Naufragios, relazione della sfortunata spedizione che gli cambierà la vita. L'ultimo capitolo esplora il processo di Decostruzione della Conquista presente nelle pagine di Naufragios, le quali possono essere suddivise in quattro concetti chiave: scontro, incontro, integrazione e ritorno. Lo studio si conclude con una breve analisi riguardo il valore della non conquista.
