This essay explores the relationship between Aleister Crowley and Fernando Pessoa, highlighting the themes and influences that both authors share. It explores how both authors used the shattered identity to investigate liberation, rebellion, and esoteric ideas. The examination focuses on their meeting, their correspondence, Pessoa's horoscope correction for Crowley, and the contentious suicide at Boca do Inferno that attracted a lot of media attention. Pessoa's use of heteronyms and particular poems like "Iniciação," "Eros e Psique," and "O Ultimo Sortilegio" explore the occult and esoteric themes in his works. For Crowley, the poem "Hymn to Pan" and books such as "The Book of the Law" and "Magick in Theory and Practice" are examined, and the Thelema system is explained. While Pessoa's criticism of moral norms and Crowley's articulation of Thelema's philosophy highlight rebellion, the topic of multiple identities is explored through an analysis of Pessoa's heteronyms and Crowley's pseudonyms. Utilizing significant works by Richard Kaczynski and Roger Hutchinson, the study examines their influence on esoteric movements and literature from the 20th century.
