The thesis intends to analyse the critical-essay writing of Paul Auster focusing on the work "The Art of hunger". The main themes of the essay (food, words, memory and chance) are therefore studied as they are fundamental in the writer's narrative and poetic work. In the end, three examples of intertextual dialogue - Franz Kafka, Edmond Jabès and Samuel Beckett - are discussed.
La tesi intende analizzare la scrittura critico-saggistica di Paul Auster focalizzandosi sull'opera "The Art of Hunger". Si studiano dunque i principali temi del saggio (il cibo, la parola, la memoria e il caso) in quanto fondanti nell'opera narrativo-poetica dello scrittore. Infine si discutono tre esempi di dialogo intertestuale con gli autori Franz Kafka, Edmond Jabès e Samuel Beckett.
