L'Escuiriel: traduzione e commento

Translation and commentary of the fabliau "l'Escuiriel", based on the critical edition by H. Horensma (Nouveau recueil complet des fabliaux (NRCF), published by Willem Noomen, Assen and Maastricht, Van Gorcum, 1991, vol.6, pp. 33-49 and 319-322). The text is an anonymous fabliau of the latter half of the XIII c. (uncertain date) in ancient french, probably origination from western Île de France and it's composed by 204 octosyllabes in rhyming couplets. For the translation we chose to closely follow the critical text, inspired by the works of Au. Roncaglia, while the commentary aims to analyze the themes present in the short story to frame them in the wider fabliaux tradition.

Horensma (Nouveau recueil complet des fabliaux (NRCF), pubblicata da Willem Noomen, Assen e Maastricht, Van Gorcum, 1991, vol.6, pp. 33-49 e 319-322). Il testo è un fabliau anonimo di seconda metà del XIII sec. (datazione incerta) in antico francese, probabilmente originario dell'area occidentale dell'Île de France e si compone di 204 octosyllabes a rima baciata. Per la traduzione si è scelto un approccio il più aderente possibile al testo critico, ispirandosi ai lavori di Au. Roncaglia, mentre per il commento si vogliono analizzare i temi presentati dal racconto per inquadrarli all'interno della tradizione dei fabliaux.
