The diatopic variation of Spanish has different linguistic usages that are used between speakers from different regions or countries. The purpose of this study is to observe the general panorama of dialectal and sociolinguistic variation in the Spanish-speaking space, mainly from the geographical level. In the first chapter we find a general explanation of the Spanish language, including also the co-official languages and the main geolects of the country. The second chapter, on the other hand, reflects on the Spanish spoken in the countries of the Americas, focusing mainly on the central Caribbean area and the Andes region. Subsequently, we want to give a more detailed elaboration of the fundamental characteristics of the linguistic aspects of two countries in particular, Puerto Rico and Cuba, compared to the main features of the Spanish of northern Colombia. To conclude this thesis project, we observe in the last chapter the Caribbean and Andean Spanish in the musical repertoire, analyzing several songs of some Puerto Rican, Cuban and Colombian singers and also reflecting on the lexical and phonological level.
