Starting from the question "Can all human beings be considered persons?", the essay examines two different positions on the notion of person developed by Robert Spaemann and Peter Singer. While for Spaemann belonging to the human species confers on all members of that species the status of person (regardless of age, sex and deficits of any nature), for Singer it is only the possession of certain abilities superiors (such as rationality and self-awareness) that makes the subject a person. For the Australian philosopher therefore not all human beings can be defined as people and animals that possess the aforementioned abilities are people. After analyzing the different points of view of Spaemann and Singer, the paper intends highlight the strengths, limitations and problems on an ethical-moral level of both perspectives. In other words, the objective is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of both the approaches, to provide a clearer overview of the concept of person.

Abstract
In other words, the objective is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of both the approaches, to provide a clearer overview of the concept of person.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
