Relazioni marittime adriatiche. L'Istria veneta e le sponde pontificie nel Settecento

This study examines the economic and social relationships linked to Adriatic coastal trade in the 18th century, focusing on the interactions between two representative contexts of the phenomenon: Venetian Istria and the Adriatic littoral of the Papal States. Particular attention is given to aspects such as trade, ports, fairs, and the mobility of people, as well as the vessels used, smuggling, the paroni (shipowners), and other elements of this traditional practice of the Adriatic ancien régime, which originated in Late Antiquity and continued until the mid-20th century.

Questo lavoro analizza le relazioni economiche e sociali legate al piccolo cabotaggio adriatico nel XVIII secolo attraverso l'esempio delle interazioni tra due contesti rappresentativi del fenomeno, l'Istria veneta e le sponde adriatiche dello Stato Pontificio. Vengono analizzati in particolar modo aspetti quali il commercio, i porti, le fiere e la mobilità delle persone, ma anche le imbarcazioni impiegate, il contrabbando, i "paroni" e altri aspetti di quella che è una pratica tradizionale dell'ancien régime adriatico, che vede le sue origini nella tarda antichità e va avanti fino alla metà del XX secolo.
