Many studies show that individuals who undergo acupuncture treatment report a significant change in their condition. The study outlined here explores the effects of acupuncture through the use of the placebo effect. Four experimental conditions were created by combining two different types of sham and real stimulation. Additionally, various questionnaires were integrated to measure the subject's expectations and state. Finally, the variable considered relates to the subject's state of relaxation, measured through reaction times in a go/no-go task. The results of this study could pave the way for further investigations into the potential psychological mechanisms involved in acupuncture and for clinically shared empirical applications.

Abstract
Many studies show that individuals who undergo acupuncture treatment report a significant change in their condition. The study outlined here explores the effects of acupuncture through the use of the placebo effect. Four experimental conditions were created by combining two different types of sham and real stimulation. Additionally, various questionnaires were integrated to measure the subject's expectations and state. Finally, the variable considered relates to the subject's state of relaxation, measured through reaction times in a go/no-go task. The results of this study could pave the way for further investigations into the potential psychological mechanisms involved in acupuncture and for clinically shared empirical applications.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
