Neoliberalism is an economic and political movement that took hold in the 1970, that despite its initial premises created a broad range of negative effects, not only on the economy but also on the culture itself. Neoliberalism in fact became an invisible force rather than just a doctrine or a theory, originating a series of psychological values that promptly started to impact every aspect of life. Psychotherapy practice is hence deeply influenced by neoliberalism’s values and conceptions, becoming in some cases a form of reproduction of these constraints rather than freeing and making people aware of such aspects. There’s therefore the need for a new perspective in the psychotherapy field that could potentially criticize and by time modify these cultural and social patterns.

Abstract
Neoliberalism is an economic and political movement that took hold in the 1970, that despite its initial premises created a broad range of negative effects, not only on the economy but also on the culture itself. Neoliberalism in fact became an invisible force rather than just a doctrine or a theory, originating a series of psychological values that promptly started to impact every aspect of life. Psychotherapy practice is hence deeply influenced by neoliberalism’s values and conceptions, becoming in some cases a form of reproduction of these constraints rather than freeing and making people aware of such aspects. There’s therefore the need for a new perspective in the psychotherapy field that could potentially criticize and by time modify these cultural and social patterns.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
