The study of anti-predatory responses in swordtail hybrids (Teleostei: Xiphophorus), makes it possible to distinguish individuals who are more bold from those who are less so. In addition, working on individuals who have previously undergone these tests provides the basis for possible considerations about the repeatability of the test and the possibility of the individuals themselves learning. In this case, boldness intended as time of emergence and proportion of time out of shelter is studied, using individuals that are hybrids and from outside tanks. These studies can further support and confirm the fact that the personality of hybrids and their behavioral syndromes are fundamental to their evolutionary fate. The observations made can also lead to considerations of phenotypic stability through the life cycle of individuals.

Lo studio delle risposte antipredatorie negli ibridi di spada (Teleostei: Xiphophorus) permette di distinguere gli individui più coraggiosi da quelli che lo sono meno. Inoltre, lavorare su individui che sono stati precedentemente sottoposti a questi test fornisce la base per eventuali considerazioni sulla ripetibilità del test e sulla possibilità che gli individui stessi imparino. In questo caso, viene studiata l'audacia intesa come tempo di emersione e proporzione di tempo fuori dal rifugio, utilizzando individui ibridi e provenienti da vasche esterne. Questi studi possono ulteriormente sostenere e confermare il fatto che la personalità degli ibridi e il loro temperamento sono fondamentali per il loro destino evolutivo. Le osservazioni fatte possono anche portare a considerazioni sulla stabilità fenotipica attraverso il ciclo di vita degli individui.
