This thesis is based on an internship experience conducted at an urban wastewater treatment plant and focuses on the identification and description of emerging pollutants detected in wastewater over the last decade. Various quaternary treatments potentially effective for the removal of these pollutants are analyzed, with the aim of selecting the most suitable one to be integrated into the existing plant configuration. A preliminary design of the chosen treatment is then proposed, based on the plant’s real operational data. Additionally, a comparative analysis of the effluent parameters before and after treatment is carried out. Finally, possible applications of the treated water flow are discussed.

Abstract
This thesis is based on an internship experience conducted at an urban wastewater treatment plant and focuses on the identification and description of emerging pollutants detected in wastewater over the last decade. Various quaternary treatments potentially effective for the removal of these pollutants are analyzed, with the aim of selecting the most suitable one to be integrated into the existing plant configuration. A preliminary design of the chosen treatment is then proposed, based on the plant’s real operational data. Additionally, a comparative analysis of the effluent parameters before and after treatment is carried out. Finally, possible applications of the treated water flow are discussed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
