The aim of this thesis is to explore in depth the phenomenon of workaholism, now also known as work addiction, and to examine the individual, social and organizational risk factors that may contribute to its development. Particular attention is paid to changes in the post-pandemic work environment, such as the rise of smart working and the increasing prevalence of digital technologies. Some prevention strategies associated with this form of work distress-with a focus on training and human resource management measures-that could be implemented to contain the onset of workaholism and improve organizational well-being will also be discussed.
