My thesis project analyzes the use of Pet Therapy as a re-educational tool within the penitentiary system, with particular attention to the project implemented in the Gorgona prison. The research aims to understand how the interaction between prisoners and animals can influence the rehabilitation and re-education process, promoting the development of empathy, responsibility and emotional management. Through an analysis of the results obtained by the Gorgona project, tangible benefits emerge both on an emotional and social level for the inmates involved. The conclusions suggest that Pet Therapy represents an innovative and effective resource in the recovery process within prisons, helping to improve the psychological well-being and social reintegration of prisoners.
