The present study aims to investigate the role of social stigma and self-stigma among adolescents. To this end, experimental investigations were conducted through standardized questionnaires. Understanding how adolescents residing in a Protected Therapeutic Rehabilitation Community (C.T.R.P.) perceive forms of discrimination and self-stigma was therefore one of the main objectives. Data collection was carried out using the Discrimination and Stigma Scale - Short Version (DISCUS-S) (Lasalvia et al., 2023), which highlighted a low level of perceived discrimination. In parallel, a group of adolescents without psychiatric diagnoses was administered the Opinions about Mental Illness test (Cohen and Struening, 1959) to assess stigma toward peers with psychological distress. The results indicate that, although these adolescents do not express strongly stigmatizing attitudes, they do not actively promote the social integration of their peers with psychological distress. These findings suggest the need for targeted interventions to bridge this gap and foster full social inclusion without discrimination.

Abstract
These findings suggest the need for targeted interventions to bridge this gap and foster full social inclusion without discrimination.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
