This research examines two primary dimensions of Pet Therapy (Animal-Assisted Therapy, AAT): its therapeutic value and the methodologies required to educate professionals on its application. Pet Therapy has been shown to significantly improve both emotional and physical health outcomes, particularly in individuals dealing with neurological and psychiatric conditions. A detailed review of existing studies outlines how human-animal interactions help reduce symptoms such as anxiety, social isolation, and physiological stress, highlighting the multidimensional benefits.Beyond its clinical applications, this thesis focuses on the pedagogical frameworks necessary for training practitioners. It emphasizes the development of comprehensive, standardized training programs that incorporate ethical guidelines, animal welfare, and skills such as communication and emotional intelligence. By addressing these components, the research underlines the importance of preparing professionals to safely and effectively deliver Pet Therapy interventions, expecially in clinical settings. Finally, the work advocates for the expansion and implementation of educational resources, recommending the creation of curricula that align with best practices. The goal is to ensure that both therapy animals and human patients experience the highest standards of care, enabling broader, ethical use of Pet Therapy in different therapeutic settings.

Abstract
The goal is to ensure that both therapy animals and human patients experience the highest standards of care, enabling broader, ethical use of Pet Therapy in different therapeutic settings.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
