One of the major problems of the international swine department is the presence of agonistic behavior. They derive from the ethology developed in nature by the ancestor of the domestic pig, the wild boar. These behaviours cause great stress to the animals, with serious consequences for productivity and meat quality. As this is a very common problem, there have been a large number of studies aimed at solving or alleviating this phenomenon. The aim of this paper is to describe agonistic behaviour and to examine its causes, manifestations and possible solutions.

Abstract
One of the major problems of the international swine department is the presence of agonistic behavior. They derive from the ethology developed in nature by the ancestor of the domestic pig, the wild boar. These behaviours cause great stress to the animals, with serious consequences for productivity and meat quality. As this is a very common problem, there have been a large number of studies aimed at solving or alleviating this phenomenon. The aim of this paper is to describe agonistic behaviour and to examine its causes, manifestations and possible solutions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
