This thesis explores the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI) and its potential applications within the contemporary economic and social framework. The analysis focuses on three aspects, each examined in a separate chapter. The first chapter discusses the economic theories supporting UBI, starting with a historical analysis of its origins and extending to a contemporary discussion of its principles and objectives. The second chapter focuses on the poverty index in Italy, providing a historical overview of the roots of poverty in the country during key economic events. Finally, the third chapter examines the Italian UBI plan, beginning with an analysis of the German UBI plan, followed by a description of the potential limits and social and cultural implications of this approach within the Italian context.
